Setting a space column

Sure enough when some time ago I spotted a great building potential in a certain log stuck in the canal, I didn't really know what it was going to happen to it and indeed now... it's filling the space.
It became a space column!!!

Check out all the details of the wood working construction process...

As a structural element from the ground floor, it supports an old thermal mass brick-stove upstairs on the second floor, that unloads its weight through a structural wall-frame on the first floor.

As a visual and conceptual element, it directs the flow to the two main units of the building, on the left going to the apartment where we live and on the right going upstairs to the guest rooms, the dormitory and the meditation hall on the second floor.
It will be right next to a new wooden stairway and a special stove...

The setup process starts from giving a rough cut to the base and checking the situation on a perfectly smooth and level surface.



As you can see at the beginning it was not standing up straight on its own and it needed to be propped with some wooden poles.

I figured that using some temporary ties was much better than screwing into the column... and it worked very nicely being both practical (super easy to install) and strong (giving a sturdy feel while working on the column).
Nice useful handy trick.

At the beginning it was definitely NOT flat and as a matter of fact it was NOT standing straight without the poles to support it...

As you can see it stands up without the poles!

The following two additional details would require some very deep insight and explanations. Someday I may find the time to describe their construction procedure. I am always late writing down what's happening on a daily basis... way too many things are going on!

I guess it would be better to explain it by voice in person...
