Wild strawberry field forever

Rolling down from the wild side of the property along the west side of the RawJah house, this year more than ever we are getting again... a whole field of wild strawberries

If every flowers becomes a fruit, we are going to get very busy picking them up...

Food from the wild

Today my first experiment with a wild crafted herb in Italy that I didn't know before. Alliaria from Brassicaceae family. Nice frittata omelette came out of this handful of leaves.

Umeboshi for all

So here's another Ohme made japanese food production... made in Italy. It's the cosmic appointment that was already set since last year. Slightly delayed following the weather and adjusting a better timing for this harvest, today we stocked about 10kg of umeboshi, the salty plums that are the base of many traditional dishes.

Yesterday we went to pick them up from a native tree in a park nearby, so they're basically organic wild crafted since the tree is totally abandoned to itself. It's been some sort of homeschooling practice with my son, so that he can learn how to prepare food he likes by himself.

Umeboshi made in Italy

In these days starts the first Ohme made experimental batch of a very common japanese food ingredient: it's umeboshi, the salty plums that are added as a side dish or inserted in the classic rice-balls.
