While the cork flooring insulation is still maturing upstairs, the waiting time it's perfect for opening another big battle field and approach the reconstruction of the ground floor in what it's going to be the "community kitchen"... Digging out and sifting earth from rocks and gravel, a few interesting items came out too.
The main "discovery" is that below the ground level there was the ancient stone basement of a previous subdivision of the building... so this was maybe the "one before the last" addition to the whole structure. The very last addition it's proven to be added after 1851 . . . so this room was there way before that and the space for what's going to be again a stairway (hopefully soon after these major reconstruction) it was before a door.

We have found a consumed stone there, wide enough for a doorway... besides this, scattered around in the compacted soil mix there were various interesting archeological items.
Some colored ceramic pieces from different vessels, pieces of charcoal, pieces of glass, animal bones and rusted iron items like pegs, hooks and nails.
Really looking forward to proceed in this major task (and finish it...) and receive more detailed info on these findings: they must have at least 250 years but apparently they could be even older...
We will see.
We will see.
